Saturday, January 24 - 5:45 AM

It’s a true midwinter morning out there, with temperatures starting around -5°F and slowly climbing to about 5°F by the afternoon. The sun is out, skies are mostly clear, and it’s one of those cold, bright days where preparation makes all the difference. Bundle up properly and you’ll be rewarded with crisp snow, clean edges, and that quiet, wintry feel across the mountain.

Overnight, our grooming team was back out laying down fresh corduroy across a broad stretch of terrain on both peaks. Expect smooth, edgeable turns on East Peak favorites including Why Not, Win Tuck, Widgeon, Wing N’ It, World Cup, and Wapeka. West Peak is stacked with groomed options as well, including Upper and Lower Wheelchair, Wide Connection, Wedel, Upper Wall Street, Warm Up Road, Warm Up, Wonderama, What?!, Windfall, Lower Wipeout, Way Out, Wall Street, Warpath Chute, Upper and Lower Warpath, Upper and Lower Wiseacres, Upper and Lower Wolverine, Upper and Lower Whistler, Mini Wall Bypass, and Upper Wraparound. There’s plenty of room to spread out and find your flow.

We’ll have the Wonderama Express Quad (C), Whiteway Express Quad (D), Wooly Bear Carpet (E), Westside Six (F), East Peak Express Quad (G), Willpower Triple (K), Chairlift L, and Carpet M spinning today, keeping access smooth and efficient across the mountain.

With west-northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph, it’s important to dress with intention. Full face coverage is essential to protect exposed skin, along with well-insulated gloves or mittens and hand warmers as backup. Stick with fast-drying layers like wool or synthetics and avoid cotton so moisture doesn’t steal your warmth. Take breaks inside when you need them, especially if fingers or toes start to feel numb. A little planning goes a long way on a day like today.

Park riders, Lower Warpath is riding well with a setup featuring 3 rails, 1 jump, 6 rollers, 3 tabletop and cube features, and 1 berm, making for a fun, flowing lap even in the cold.

Looking ahead to this evening, we’ve got a concert featuring The Nerds, benefiting the Adaptive Sports Foundation. Tickets are available online if you’re planning to make a full day of it.

Layer up, ease into your morning, and enjoy a classic winter day on the hill. Be sure to stop into the Food Hall to warm up with a bowl of chili or a hot cocoa when you need it. We’ll see you out there.
